FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Once again the Colorado State softball program will be doing its part to raise Breast Cancer awareness when the team hosts in-state rival Northern Colorado on Tuesday afternoon at Ram Field.
The Rams, who took part along with 65,000 participants in last October’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Denver, will trade in their usual green and gold attire for pink jerseys when the team takes the field at 4 p.m. against the Bears.
Several non-profit organizations will be in attendance at Tuesday’s game. The Women’s Wellness Connection, The Susan G. Komen Foundation of Northern Colorado and The Fort Collins Women’s Resource Center will all be available with information throughout the contest.
In addition, the team has planned a number of pink-themed giveaways.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be on hand to give out pink ribbons to fans and CSU department of athletics will be giving away pink wrist bands to people in the crowd.
Colorado State is 24-15 overall this season is coming off of a big weekend in which sophomore ace Kelli Eubanks tossed her first career no-hitter to defeat the Utah Utes. The Rams closed the weekend by handing BYU, the top team in the MWC entering the week, their first conference loss of the season.
CSU is 2-1 this season against Northern Colorado, having split a double-header in Greeley on March 27, and winning a come-from-behind thriller at Ram Field on April 7.
Following Tuesday’s non-conference matchup, the Rams will continue MWC action Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M., to face New Mexico. First pitch both days is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
