FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Rams won two of their three games Sunday, closing play in the Triple Crown Fall Classic with a 3-1 mark.

Following Saturday’s 8-0 win over Great Falls, the Rams defeated Metro State (5-3) and Black Hills State (3-2) before falling to Regis (4-2) on Sunday.

Caitlan Stem led off Game 1 against Metro State with a home run to left. Freshman Chelsea Biglow later singled to bring in the second run.

The Rams added to their lead in the second when Stem, junior Lyssa Roberts and freshman Morghan Doughty all brought in runs with three consecutive RBIs.

The Roadrunners scored one in the third and two in the fourth, but the Rams ultimately prevailed, winning 5-3.

In Game 2 against the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets, starter Alexa Cash struck out six straight beginning with the last out of the first inning. Overall, Cash retired nine straight batters between the first and fourth innings, allowing three hits and two runs.

Freshman Alysa Greckel scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Ashley MacQueen in the second. In the next inning, freshman Cassandra Mosser tripled and scored on a Sacrifice Fly by Doughty.

In the bottom of the sixth with Roberts on second, freshman Emily Pohl singled for an RBI.

The Yellow Jackets scored two runs in the top of the sixth. Because of the two-hour time limit imposed during the Triple Crown Classic, the matchup ended after six innings, giving the Rams a 3-2 victory.

Stem collected another hit in the first Ram at-bat of Game 3, this time tripling to right field. She came around to score on a single from Roberts.

The Rangers answered in the top of the second with a bases-loaded walk issued by starter Kelsey Jo O’Brien. They added a run in the top of the third and two more in the sixth, giving them a 4-2 victory over the Rams.

The Rams will play their final home game of the fall season Oct. 3 at 12 p.m., when they take on CSU Alumnae.
