COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After helping No. 7 Colorado State to a pair of conference victories, setter Deedra Foss has been named the Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week. The honor is Foss’ third-career honor, making her one of nine players in program history to reach that milestone.
In two matches, Foss averaged 13.00 assists, 2.14 digs and 0.57 blocks per set, while helping CSU’s offense to a combined .362 hitting percentage. The assists-per-set average was more than 1.50 assists higher than her season average. In comparison, the nation’s leader for the season is averaging 12.25 per set.
In a four-set win over UNLV, Foss recorded back-to-back service aces in Set 4 to set up Match Point. Against San Diego State, the senior had 15 assists and two blocks in the second set, with the first capping a 5-1 run to give CSU its first lead of the set, 12-11, and the second giving the Rams the lead for good. In the final frame, Foss tallied 18 assists while CSU hit .528 (20-1-36) en route to a 25-16 set victory.
Foss is the third player in the past four weeks to earn MW player of the week honors. She joins fellow seniors Kelsey Snider (Sept. 15) and Marlee Reynolds (Sept. 22).
With the wins, CSU extended its winning streak to 11 matches. The Rams are 16-1 on the season, with their only loss coming Sept. 6 to then-No. 4 Wisconsin. CSU is 4-0 in Mountain West action, tied with New Mexico for first place.
The Rams are back on the court Tuesday in Laramie, Wyo., for the first installment of the Border War. CSU has not lost a true road match since Oct. 27, 2012, a span of 23 matches. The 23-match road win streak leads the nation.
