LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following its first loss in nearly two months, Colorado State dropped three spots, to No. 10, in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll. While the Rams slid in one ranking, they rose a spot in the one they’re paying closer attention to, coming in at No. 13 in the RPI.

The Rams enter this week’s match vs. Fresno State with a record of 23-2, including 11-1 in MW action. CSU holds a 2.5-match lead over UNLV with four weeks remaining in the regular season.

“Our one goal right now is to win the Mountain West,” Head Coach Tom Hilbert said. “That is what we’ll continue to focus on.”

The RPI in recent years has played a large role in NCAA tournament seeding and determining the 16 first- and second-round host sites. Despite losing to UNLV, CSU was able to rise in the index because of UNLV’s strong winning percentage (20-6, .769). The RPI is based off of three categories: a team’s winning percentage (25 percent), its opponents’ winning percentage (50 percent) and the winning percentage of its opponents’ opponents (25 percent).

In the top-25 poll, CSU has been ranked in 24-straight polls, including seven in a row in the top 10. All-time, CSU has been ranked in 261 of 473 polls – 14th in the NCAA – and holds 72 appearances in the top 10 – 18th.

Wisconsin remained steady at No. 4 this week, while BYU and Arizona State came in at No. 14 and No. 20, respectively. Marquette received two votes.
