Culbert named Rams Volleyball Classic MVP

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – CSU Rams senior Adrianna Culbert was given MVP honors for the 2015 Rams Volleyball Classic. She received her award after the final match of the tournament on Sunday afternoon at Moby Arena.
Senior Jaime Colaizzi and junior Acacia Andrews were also named to the all-tournament team. No. 12 CSU won the 2015 Rams Volleyball Classic championship, sweeping Baylor, UC Davis and Northern Iowa over Friday and Saturday.
Culbert averaged 2.56 kills per set on .373 hitting over the weekend. The hitter/setter also recorded a team-best 5.44 assists per set and totaled 30 digs with six blocks. Most notably, Culbert recorded a triple-double against UC Davis on Saturday, posting 10 kills, 20 assists and 12 digs. The triple-double was CSU’s first since Oct. 20, 2007 (Ashley Fornstrom versus Utah). Culbert was one kill shy of recording a triple-double on Saturday evening against Northern Iowa, as well.
Colaizzi led a strong defensive effort for the Rams over the weekend, averaging 5.00 digs per set while adding three service aces. Colaizzi had 20 digs against Northern Iowa, helping CSU secure the tournament title.
Andrews totaled 15 kills with only one attack error over the weekend, equating to a .560 attack rate. Andrews also added eight blocks over the three matches.
The Rams will be back in action as they co-host the CSU/UNC Tournament, beginning Friday. CSU’s first match of the weekend is against No. 18 Arizona State at 7 p.m. on Friday at Moby Arena.
