FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State volleyball team has announced the addition of junior transfer McKenna Thornlow to its roster for the 2016 season.
Thornlow spent the past two seasons at North Texas after finishing her high school career at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs.
“I remember watching her in high school and she was recruited by North Texas as a scholarship libero,” Head Coach Tom Hilbert said. “She understands the game and she’s pretty good, and I think she will help us because of her maturity and the fact that she’s been in Division I games before.”
Thornlow appeared in 63 matches over her two seasons with the Mean Green, including making eight starts her freshman season in 2014. Thornlow also registered a career-best 15 digs against Cleveland State in her freshman year. She also excelled in serving, tallying four service aces against both Baylor and Louisiana Tech last season.
While at Rampart, Thornlow guided the squad to a 21-6 finish her senior season, making an appearance in the Colorado Class 5A State tournament. The three-year letterwinner was named team MVP in 2013 and earned Honorable Mention 5A/4A All-Area honors in both 2012 and 2013.
The 5-foot-9 defensive specialist will join a defensive group at CSU that includes senior Cassidy Denny, sophomores Katie Craig and Mariah Green, and incoming freshman Amanda Young.
The Rams recently unveiled their 2016 schedule, which will begin Aug. 26 at Moby Arena against North Dakota State.
