102 CSU student-athletes earn academic recognition

July 6, 2016 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A total of 102 Colorado State student-athletes earned recognition from the Mountain West for their work in the classroom during the spring 2016 seasons. The Spring 2016 Academic All-Mountain West honorees, which were announced Wednesday by the conference, cover all 11 winter/spring sports that CSU sponsors.
The total is two shy of CSU's all-time record, set last year. Combined with the Rams' 48 fall honorees, however, CSU established a new record for an academic year (150 in 2015-16).
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at CSU while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on his/her team. Two student-athletes - Alex Hess (track & field) and Katie Kicklighter (swimming & diving) - own a 4.0 grade-point average.
