FORT COLLINS, Colo. – CSU senior shortstop Haley Hutton has been named an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by Fastpitch News (FPN). FPN released their preseason All-Americans via fastpitchnews.com today.

Hutton, a three-time All-Mountain West honoree, will enter her senior season as CSU’s career batting average leader (.394). She led the MW in on base percentage (.525), ranked second in triples (7), third in batting average (.411), sixth in runs scored (43) and fifth in hits (62). She also stole a career-best 15 bases. Her on base percentage ranked 33rd nationally, and she was eighth in triples.

Her .411 batting average last season made her the only player in CSU softball history with multiple .400-plus hitting seasons. She also hit over .400 as a freshman in 2014 (.413).

The Platteville, Colorado native also had one home run – an inside-the-park effort – on March 5 vs. Idaho State. It was the first CSU inside-the-park homer in over a decade.

CSU went 11-2 last March, with Hutton leading the charge. Hutton hit .415 with a .732 slugging percentage during the month, pushing the Rams over .500 by end of March.

The speedy middle infielder boasted 17 multi-hit performances last year. Hutton also excelled defensively, piling up 124 defensive assists, good for fifth in the conference.

"It's awesome to see my name on the list with some of the top contenders in the nation," Hutton said about the honor. "The CSU softball program is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. I also understand that this is only a prediction, and I am excited to prove it on the field this season with my teammates."

The Rams will open their season in Austin, Texas for the Texas Classic. CSU will take on Maryland, Texas and Minnesota in a five-game opening weekend Feb. 10-12.
