Box Score

RENO, Nev. - The Colorado State Rams fell in the first game of their series at Nevada on Friday, 5-4.

Nevada (24-19, 9-7 MW) scored twice in the fifth inning to turn a 3-2 CSU (23-18, 8-11) lead into a 5-4 advantage for the home team.

CSU got on the board twice in the first inning, with Hannah McCorkhill singling up the middle to drive in Taryn Arcarese and Madison Kilcrease.

Nevada got one run back in the bottom half of the first, but the Rams gained it right back in the top of the third. The Rams took advantage of one Nevada's four errors, with McCorkhill scoring on a defensive miscue by the Wolf Pack third baseman.

The Wolf Pack tied the game at 3-3 before the fourth inning, but the Rams showed resiliency by taking the lead right back. Kilcrease picked up an RBI with a groundout to first base, allowing Hayleigh Evans to score and give the Rams a 4-3 lead.

Nevada took its first and only lead of the game in the fifth inning, however. The Wolf Pack hit a solo homer with one out, then produced another run on a CSU error a few batters later.

The Rams obtained runners on the corners with only one out in the sixth inning, but were unable to produce the tying run. CSU went in order in the seventh as Nevada successfully closed out the 5-4 win.

NOTES…
- Haley Hutton went 3-for-4, giving her 244 hits for her career. She needs only eight more hits to tie the all-time career record at CSU. She also upped her batting average to .396 for the season. She's also currently riding a team-high seven-game hit streak.
- CSU's seven hits came from only three different players - Hutton, Taryn Arcarese and Hannah McCorkhill.
- The Rams scored twice in the first inning but lost. CSU is now 16-7 on the year when scoring any amount of runs in the opening frame.
- The Rams also led through four innings before Nevada rallied, giving CSU a 20-2 record when leading through four.

NEXT…
CSU will continue its series at Nevada with a 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT tilt tomorrow at Hixson Park. The series will conclude on Sunday at noon MT.
