IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Bill Hempen
"We played pretty well today. We were aggressive and we played especially strong at moments. We played a physical and draining game on Friday and faced a short turn over today. We just did not get any breaks today, and that's just the way the game is."
Â
On the team's offensive approach with Hannah Gerdin in the mix:
"Hannah was excited to play, and she caused some problems for Denver. We created chances and we're still searching for that moment where things click for us. We're getting into situations where it takes composure and maturity to score. They played well today. We had chances, they just didn't result in goals."
Â
On the team's preparation for Thursday's contest:
"One of those things you easily lose sight of is that the body can only run so much. As we prepare this week, it'll be about getting those kids that we have played a lot of minutes - and that we know can play - and sitting them down and getting them fresh. It's a matter of getting the rest of the team up to speed tactically so they can be prepared."
Â
NOTES
- Before this season, the longest CSU had held its opponents scoreless to open a season was 110:09 in 2013. The Rams had shut out Lubbock Christian in their first match before Texas Tech scored at 20:09 in their second match.
- Sunday's match marked the fourth time that Colorado State has played in back-to-back overtime contests. The most recent occurrence was in 2016, when the Rams played consecutive overtime contests against Boise State (Sept. 25) and Nevada (Sept. 30).
- Each of Caeley Lordemann and Ally Murphy-Pauletto recorded their respective first shots as members of the CSU soccer team on Sunday.
- The Rams held a 4-2 shots advantage at the end of the first 45 minutes of play, including the only shot on goal up to that point.
