Rams ready to begin fall season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State Rams tennis squad is set to begin their fall season as they head to Omaha, Neb., for the Bluejay Invitational hosted by Creighton.

Head Coach Jarod Camerota, who is beginning his second season at the helm of the CSU tennis program, is looking for his team to develop and learn in these early, fall tournaments.

"I think it gives you an idea of the level of competition and more importantly for us, we will be working on making changes for the spring," Camerota said. "I don't put a lot of stock into fall results; of course it's great to go out and win, but most importantly it's about making adjustments and getting better for the spring and ultimately for the Mountain West conference tournament."

Six teams, including CSU, will converge upon the Koch Family Tennis Center for the two-day event, beginning Friday. Host Creighton, Gustavus Adolphus, Iowa State, North Dakota and Omaha will all participate.

The squad is ready to get on the road for its first real competition of the 2017-18 season.

"I think everyone is ready to play," Camerota said. "We've been playing against each other for a while now. I think the freshmen especially are ready to see what college tennis is about."

The Rams will return home to host the Jon Messick Invitational, Oct. 6-8, at the CSU Tennis Complex. CSU's third and final fall tournament is the Bronco Super Challenge hosted by Western Michigan, Nov. 3-5.
