Recap: Rams Can’t Hold On In Series Opener Against Bulldogs

FRESNO, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team suffered a setback in game one of the series against Fresno State, 9-3. The Rams led in the second inning, but couldn't hold on to the lead in the series opener.
Colorado State (15-8, 2-2 MW) put a pair of runners on in the top of the second with one out before Danni Klein blasted a career-first home run to left field to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.
The lead didn't hold long as Fresno State (16-13, 1-0 MW) matched the score and took the lead in the bottom of the third scoring four runs off of three hits and a CSU error.
The Rams tried to retake the lead as they loaded the bases with less than one out in the fourth and sixth innings, but couldn't convert offensively.
The Bulldogs increased their lead in the bottom of the sixth with five more runs to lead, 9-3.

Danni Klein hit her first home run of her career in the second inning – a three run shot – to get the Rams on the board and lead, 3-0.

Colorado State will continue playing at Fresno State tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. MT.
