Colorado State softball earns five All-Mountain West nods

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team earned five All-Mountain West nods announced by the league office on Wednesday. The five players from CSU include Haley Donaldson, Bridgette Hutton, Madison Kilcrease, Sarah Muzik and Amber Nelson. The five were all named to the second team and are all first time honorees with the exception of Nelson who was named second team All-Mountain West in 2016. The five honors are the most conference awards for the Rams since 2012.
Donaldson begins the postseason fifth on the team with a .324 batting average, while also second on the team with 11 doubles, which is tied for ninth in the Mountain West. She also is second on the team slugging .547 and 16th in the conference. She also has been a team player, recording seven sac bunts (T-2nd) and four sac flies (T-3rd).
Hutton has been Colorado State's number one pitcher, throwing the most for the Rams and has hurled the most in the Mountain West with 182 1/3 frames. She carries a 14-11 record into the postseason, with her 14 victories tied for fourth in the MW. She also holds CSU's best ERA with a 3.07 mark, which ranks sixth in the league. So far this season she has struck out 123 batters and is holding her opponents to a .239 batting average – both of which rank in the top-5 in the league.
Kilcrease has been speedy around the bases this season as she leads the team with two triples and nine doubles. Her on base mark of .430 ranks 19th in the league and fourth on the team. She has drawn 22 walks so far this season, which is tied for 14th in the Mountain West.
Muzik has been vital to Colorado State on both sides of the ball this season. She leads the team with a .404 batting average, which is fifth highest among conference squads. She also has scored 41 runs (6th), recorded 65 hits (5th) and has an on-base mark of .461 (8th). On the bases, she is tied for fifth with 15 stolen bases, while being caught just four times.
Nelson starts postseason with a .342 batting mark, which is 19th in the league, while also tied for fifth with three triples. Her .451 on-base percentage ranks 12th in the Mountain West, while holding a .993 fielding mark behind the plate. She has also thrown out nine batters trying to steal, which is tied for third among conference schools.
