Rams pick up Mountain West win at Boise State, 5-2

CSU earns the doubles point and then wins the top four singles matches, three of them in three sets, to earn first-ever win over Broncos
BOISE, Idaho – In a match moved indoors due to weather, Colorado State handed Boise State just its second home loss in nine matches with a 5-2 road victory Friday night. With their first-ever win in nine tries in the series against BSU, the Rams improved to 8-8 on the season and 1-3 in the Mountain West, while the Broncos dropped to 7-9 and 0-3 in league play.
"I'm very proud of how we competed on all courts!" head coach Jarod Camerota said. "It was a good college match, as Mountain West matches are always very competitive. Great job by assistant Scott Langs of coaching today and all year. I'm proud and looking forward to another chance to compete against Utah State."
Colorado State picked up the key doubles point to start the match. Emily Luetschwager and Priscilla Palermo teamed for a dominant 6-1 in at No. 3. Boise State picked up the victory at No. 1, leaving the point to be settled at No. 2. The match went to a tiebreaker, with Riley Reeves and Nancy Ghanem prevailing in a 7-1 game for the 7-6 victory to give CSU a 1-0 lead.
After Boise State won the first singles match at No. 5 to tie the match at one, CSU picked up points at No. 1 and No. 2. Luetschwager won a tough straight-set match over Lilian Poling, 7-5, 6-3 and then Stella Cliffe rallied at No. 2 after losing the first set 6-1, to take command over the final two sets to win 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 and put CSU on top 3-1. The host Broncos got a three-set win at No. 6 to make it a 3-2 match, leaving the decision to the No. 3 and 4 slots. Palermo fought at No. 4 and came away with the deciding 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 win followed by Nancy Ghanem's 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 for the final 5-2 difference. Overall, the Rams won at the top four slots in singles, picking up three three-set victories in the process.
