SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team held off a San Jose State comeback attempt – stranding the tying run at third base – in the seventh and secured the series with a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Rams held the Spartans scoreless through 6 2/3 innings before a sac fly in the seventh broke the shutout.

STAT OF THE GAME
Bridgette Hutton hurled the complete game to earn her 12th win of the season, throwing over six scoreless innings.

NOTES
- Ashley Michelena and Haley Donaldson recorded the RBIs for the Rams, each tallying one
- Michelena and Tara Sahdowen led the squad from the dish, making two hits apiece
- Corina Gamboa registered a double in the first inning – the only extra-base hit for the Rams
- Bridgette Hutton (12-2) earned the complete-game win allowing the one earned run and struck out four

Colorado State took an early lead in the second inning after hitting three-straight singles to score a run. The Rams increased their lead in the fourth with another RBI single.

San Jose State put runners in scoring position with no outs in the seventh after a single and a double made the game interesting late. Hutton recorded the first out with her fourth strikeout of the game before a sac fly to center put the Spartans within one with an out to spare. Colorado State secured the victory and series recording the final out on a fly out.

The Rams will look for its fourth series sweep of the season tomorrow with game three starting at 1 p.m. PT.
