Colorado State Moves to 2-1-1

CHENEY, WASH. – The Colorado State women's soccer team concluded its first road weekend series Sunday afternoon, tying Eastern Washington 1-1 at EWU Stadium.

Play started slow in the 88-degree weather with both teams trading sides routinely, but after the scoreless halftime break play noticeably intensified. Twenty-seven shots followed in the second half and overtimes after just 14 in the first 45 minutes.

Ram midfielder Caeley Lordemann had a one-on-one opportunity that missed just wide in the 50th minute, but soon after sophomore forward Kristen Noonan would capitalize in the same situation.

Noonan received a Lauren Jones pass from behind the midfield line to set up her successful one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the 62nd minute. The assist for Jones was filed as a career-first for the junior defender and the goal marked Noonan's second on the season.

It wasn't enough to hold off the Eagles who began taking more of an aggressive attack. In the 75th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Gabi McDonald made a diving save and quickly at the other end Lordemann had another close call with the goal, but again wide.

For the second game in a row, an opponent's goal in the last minute of regulation gets the Rams. Eastern Washington's Sariah Keister tied the game at 1-all on a rocket shot from long distance that skipped over the top of McDonald's gloves.

The game then was sent into overtime and double overtime in which McDonald continued to face pressure, adding another save to total a career-high seven in the 110 minutes in goal.

Colorado State moves to 2-1-1 on the season, while the Eagles slide to 1-2-1.

The Rams are back in action with one match next weekend as they travel to play under the lights against Grand Canyon of the Western Athletic Conference.
