Colorado State recorded wins against Yale and North Dakota.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team posted a perfect 2-0 record on Saturday at the Silicon Valley Classic. The Rams started the day with a 4-2 win against Yale before finishing the day with an 8-0 victory versus North Dakota.
 
Game One vs. Bulldogs | Box Score
Colorado State scored the first run of the game in the second inning after recording four hits in the frame. CSU held its small lead through the heart of the game and added to it in the top of the fifth after Kaitlyn Cook knocked a sac fly. Yale had just two hits heading into the sixth before scoring its first run of the game on a single. The Rams increased their lead to three in the final inning with a double from Ashley Ruiz and a Tyler Trott single. The Bulldogs looked to mount a comeback, loading the bases with one out and scoring a run before the Rams secured the victory.
 
Game Two vs. Fighting Hawks | Box Score
The Rams again scored the first run of the game in the second inning after Brooke Polenz blasted a triple to center field to score Neely Peterson. CSU added to its lead in the fifth after tallying three hits to score a trio of runs. North Dakota had just two hits through the sixth frame. Colorado State added insurance runs in the seventh as the offense exploded for four runs on four hits. North Dakota doubled its hit count in the final outs with two hits, but a double play and a strike out gave the Rams the win.
 
NOTES
- The CSU pitching staff had a good day, keeping opponents to six hits in the first six innings
- Danielle Serna (3-1) earned the win the first game, while Julia Cabral was given the save
- The pair allowed just one earned run and struck out seven batters
- Corina Gamboa, Tara Shadowen and Jordan Acosta all had multiple hits
- Taylor Gilmore hurled the complete-game shutout against North Dakota, her first of the season and third of her career, and struck out seven batters
- Four different Rams had multiple hits, including two triples
