Ram Goalkeeper Earns Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Freshman of the Week
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Two shutout wins, two conference weekly honors for Shayna Ross who was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Freshman of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
Â
The San Diego, Calif. native has been in the net for the entirety of the three-game winning streak for Colorado State soccer, going back to the San Jose State 2-1 victory on Oct. 3rd. Upon returning home, Ross held onto the starting nod and picked up the Rams' first MW home wins of the season and did so without relinquishing a goal in the 1-0 victories over Colorado College and Air Force.
Â
On Friday against the Tigers, Ross collected three saves and faced 13 shots. Sunday proved to be busier as the 5-foot-10 keeper notched five saves on 17 Air Force shot attempts. Ross now has a 3-0 record and 13 saves in her three games played. Nevada's Emily RIch earned the offensive weekly award in addition to sharing the freshman nod with Ross.Â
Â
The weekly honor is the first for Colorado State since Caeley Lordemann on Oct. 28, 2019.Â
