Rams Come Up Short Against Jacks

Colorado State left 14 runners on base in the loss against South Dakota State.
GREELEY, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team did great getting runners on base, but couldn't find the timely hit to push many of those runners across home as the Rams left 14 runners on base in a 7-1 loss to South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon.

South Dakota State scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the first frame, putting up three runs on five hits to lead early. The Jackrabbits added to their lead in the second frame after a grand slam brought their lead to 7-0. Colorado State avoided the shutout in the top of the fourth after a two-out single by Ashley Michelena scored a run. The Rams loaded the bases in the first, fourth and fifth innings and had runners in scoring positions in two other innings.

- Ashley Michelena led the Rams with three hits in four at-bats, included the lone RBI
