Rams Go One Thru Six in the Women’s Discus

BOULDER, Colo. – Domination is when you finish first through sixth in an event, which is what the Colorado State women did in the discus throw Friday afternoon in day one of CU Invitational at Potts Field.

There were 13 total student-athletes in the event, but the other seven – six from Colorado and one from Wyoming – all finished behind CSU's six. Maria Muzzio won the event at 174'10'' with the Rams following in the order of Gabi McDonald, Tarynn Sieg, Haley Showalter, Morgan Stewart, and Ashton Hallsted. The distance from Muzzio and the first non-Ram was a difference of 34'5''. McDonald tossed the only personal record at 168'2'', improving 1'9'' but staying in her 18th-spot in CSU history as the next stop is Jill McCormick at 168'3''.

In the women's pole vault, Tameryn Coryell notched the other Ram first-place finish on the team with a height of 12'3.50''.

Two second-place finishes highlighted the men's side with Isa Bynum in the long jump and Drew Thompson PR'ing the javelin by 4'6''.

Day two of the CU Invite picks back up on Saturday at 10 a.m. with throwing events and the rest of the field events going on simultaneously.
