Rams Close Finish 2021 Season at San Jose State

Colorado State will finish its 2021 campaign at San Jose State starting Friday afternoon with a doubleheader.

THIS WEEK
Colorado State will finish its 2021 campaign this week, as it head to San Jose state for a three-game series starting Friday afternoon at Spartan Softball Stadium. Friday will feature a doubleheader with the first pitched schedule for 5 p.m., MT followed by game two. The series and season will conclude on Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m., MT. All three games will be stream on the Mountain West Network.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Rams finished their home schedule last weekend after hosting San Diego State. Colorado State dropped the series after dropping the doubleheader on Saturday. The Rams ended the home schedule on a positive note as they picked up a 2-0 victory in the finale. Pitcher Jessica Jarecki hurled a two-hit shutout in the win, holding the Aztecs hitless until last in the seventh inning.
 
AGAINST THE SPARTANS
The Rams are 20-18 overall against San Jose State, which also includes a 9-9 mark in Mountain West action. The series has been split since the two teams starting playing consistently in Mountain West action with Colorado State winning the last series played in 2019, 2-1 at San Jose State. Neither team has been swept since playing in Mountain West action, dating back to 2014 when the Spartans joined the league.
 
OPPONENT SCOUT
San Jose State has had a down year, sitting in eighth in the Mountain West with a 5-16 conference mark and a 9-20 overall record. The Spartans have finished either first or second in the last five season, including being crown the Mountain West Champion in 2017. Even in 2019 when Colorado State won the league, the Spartans were just a single game back.
 
San Jose State has shown a small glimmer of light this season as it swept Utah State to begin May – its only series sweep this season. The Spartans had some trouble early in the Mountain West schedule, having to forfeit two series with Nevada and UNLV.
 
The Spartans are led by Alyssa Graham who is hitting .308 with 24 hits and six extra-base hits. Jenessa Ullegue controls the circle for SJSU with a 4.18 ERA and a 6-8 record. The junior has made 19 appearances with 11 starts and has tossed 73.2 frames this season.
