What You Need to Know
- The Rams took down both San Diego State and Fresno State last weekend at home, both by a score of 3-1.
- Colorado State's remaining regular season schedule includes three teams within the top half of the conference including San Jose State, Wyoming and Mountain West leader, UNLV. As the season narrows into the Mountain West tournament, hosted by Colorado State from November 23-25, two wins this week would guarantee the Rams a spot in the six-team tournament.
- Nevada currently ranks tied for eighth in the conference with a 4-8 record, the same record as the Rams' last week opponent, San Diego State. However, the Wolf Pack boast a much higher winning percentage compared to the Aztecs which will set up a higher all-around competition level this week for the Rams.
Series History
- Â Last time out against the Spartans, the matchup was one set to shake up the conference standings early in the season. Both the Rams and San Jose State entered Moby Arena on October 8th as the only two remaining unbeaten teams in the Mountain West. The Spartans emerged victorious in a five-set thriller, giving the Rams their first conference loss. San Jose State would go on to lose its first conference game against UNLV on October 20th. The Rams boasted a balanced offensive attack against the Spartans with both Kennedy Stanford and Annie Sullivan hitting double-digit kills, but it was the athleticism and scrappy defense from San Jose State that inevitably took the win.
- Colorado State's win over the Wolf Pack this season is one of its six sweeps on the year. The Rams' defense shined in this matchup, holding Nevada to a .084 team hitting percentage throughout the game. Middle blockers Naeemah Weathers and Karina Leber both totaled four blocks each to that defensive effort.
