Team back on the court Sunday against South Dakota
LINCOLN, Neb. – Falling behind early didn't help, but pushing back will help in the long run after Colorado State's women's tennis team fell 4-0 to Nebraska on Saturday morning.
Â
The Huskers claimed the doubles point with their Nos. 2 and 3 teams posting wins, leaving the top teams stranded on the court deadlocked at 5. Then the hosts swept the top three singles spots in straight sets to secure the team victory. At the time, Colorado State was playing a third set in two other matches and had split sets at the other spot.
Â
Colorado State is now 3-2 on the season.
Â
"Nebraska played very well and came out strong," Tran said. "It took us some time to slow things down and battle in some matches. Everybody competed and fought until the end. We're talking a lot from this match to prepare us for the next one."
Â
Lucia Natal, returning to the lineup after missing last week, had dropped her first set at No. 5 singles, but roared back to take the second 6-1. Radka Buzkova had claimed the first set at No. 4, and after dropping the second, was down 5-2 in the third, while at No. 6, Sarah Weekley was in a 5-4 third set after dropping the opening one 6-0, then posting a 6-1 decision at No. 2
Â
The Rams will have a quick turnaround to the courts with South Dakota on the schedule Sunday for a 12 p.m. (MT) match in Lincoln.
