Rams Go Quiet in Series Final

Colorado State recorded a single hit in the series final, coming in the fifth inning.
SAN DIEGO – Colorado State finished its Mountain West opening weekend suffering a loss to San Diego State and struggled to get the offense active, recording just one hit in the 13-0 loss that ended after five innings.

SDSU scored in the first inning after a grand slam gave them four runs. The Aztecs followed with seven runs in the second before capping the scoring in the fourth with a pair. Colorado State put a runner on base in the first and fourth innings with help from an error but left them stranded. Hailey Smith also drew a walk in the second, but SDSU turned a double play to clear the bases. The Rams recorded their first and only hit of the game in the fifth after an infield single by Makenna McVay.

Sydney Hornbuckle started in the circle and was tagged with the loss after throwing the first 1 2/3 innings and allowing eight earned runs on three hits. Julia Cabral finished the game allowing four earned runs on three hits.
