Rams Host Spartans in Mountain West Home Opener

Colorado State will play San Jose State in a three-game series starting Friday afternoon at Ram Field.

This Rams will continue Mountain West action this week, hosting their league home opener against San Jose State starting Friday afternoon at Ram Field. Colorado State holds an 8-16 overall record and 0-3 in the conference after getting swept last week at San Diego State in the Mountain West opener. CSU and SJSJ will play a three-game series starting Friday at 4:00 p.m., MT and continuing Saturday at 1:00 p.m., MT and Sunday at 12:00 p.m., MT.

The Spartans went into extra innings in the first game before dropping the contest, 2-1. SJSU took the series after an 8-0 win in six innings in game two before an 11-inning marathon in the finale ending with a 4-3 victory. San Jose State has hovered around the .500 winning mark through the non-conference slate and their 10 loss – seven of them being one-run defeats. The Spartans biggest losses were in the season opener against Montana and against BYU, both by just three runs.

San Jose State's Alyssa Graham leads the squad from the dish, holding a .394 batting average and tallying 37 hits – both rank third in the Mountain West. Trenity Edwards follows with a .341 average, 28 hits and 13 RBI. From the circle, Jenessa Ullegue holds a team- and Mountain West-best 1.25 ERA in 18 appearances, including five starts. She has thrown five complete games with three shutouts and her 11-1 record is the most wins in the league so far this season.
