Rams Drop Game One at Utah State

Colorado State registered four hits to the Aggies three, but came up short.
LOGAN, Utah – Colorado State started the weekend, dropping the series opener at Utah State 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Aggies hit a two-run homer in the the first inning, which was the only scoring play of the day.

The Rams put a pair of runners on in the second inning after registering their first hit of the game after Kaitlyn Cook hit a two-out single up the the middle.
Â
CSU put runners on base in each of the next four frames, including putting a runner 60 feet away in the fifth, but failed to convert.
Â
Colorado State recorded four hits in the loss, all by separate players. Maya Matsubara tallied the lone extra-base hit with a double in the fourth.

Julia Cabral started in the circle and was tagged with the loss allowing the two earned runs, but also allowed just three hits and striking out six.

The Rams will continue action on Saturday with game two at Utah State starting at 12:00 p.m. MT.
