Colorado State gets hammer throw out of the way on Friday Afternoon
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – In before the expected heavy wind came, day one of the Jack Christiansen Invitational completed Friday afternoon with just the hammer throw at the Jack Christiansen Track.
Â
To conclude the afternoon, senior Tarynn Sieg (Bown) won the women's hammer throw with a season-best measure of 201'10''. The throw was just three inches off her personal record that sits sixth all-time at CSU. When looking at the NCAA West Performance List heading into the weekend, the performance registers as the 20th-best mark.
Â
Two PRs were achieved on the men's side from Mariano Kis and Colin Brown. Kis led the Rams with a third-place finish after a throw of 185'8'', while the rest of the Rams finished right behind him in the following three spots.
Â
All events on Saturday will start at 10 a.m. following the National Anthem at 9:45 a.m. The event is open to the public, but spectators must stay outside of the track and warmup areas. Live stream link is available at http://CSURams.com/Live and live results at https://csura.ms/3L5jPS3.
Â
The starting gun will go off at 12:45 p.m. for the inaugural Fritz Fulton Memorial men's 110-meter hurdle race. Fulton competed for the Rams from 1985-89 with his future wife, Nancy, and later went on to be a fixture in the track and field realm around Colorado as a coach. Their son, John, is a current sprinter for the Rams. Fritz passed away from colon cancer in early February.
Â
Twenty-six seniors will line up on the track and be recognized at 2:05 p.m. in the annual senior recognition ceremony, highlighting their time in the Green and Gold.
