LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State played a three-game series last weekend at Utah State, dropping all three games. The Rams scored its lone run of the series in the finale coming in the sixth inning.

JUST SHORT
Colorado State has been in some close games as it has a 4-12 record in games decided by two or fewer runs. In the non-conference slate, the Rams have been on the wrong side nine times in those games. Since the start of Mountain West play, CSU has been in three games that came down to just needing a timely hit. All three games against San Jose State were decided by two or fewer runs with the Rams coming up with a series sweep.

TAKING THREE
Ashley York has hit a team- and Mountain West-high five triples this season, including one in the San Jose State series. She also recorded a triple-bagger against San Diego State, Northern Colorado, Utah Valley and Colgate this season. Her five triples rank No. 5 in the country. As a team the Rams have totaled nine triples – two by Hailey Smith and one from Maya Matsubara and Peyton Allen – while allowing just two.

PLAYING CLEAN
Since the start of Mountain West play, the Rams' defense has committed just four errors, leading them to a .983 fielding percentage, which leads the Mountain West. The four errors come from the Rams four infielders as the outfielders have been perfect in a combined 39 chances.

OPPONENT SCOUT
New Mexico comes to Fort Collins with a 21-14 overall record and 1-5 in the Mountain West. The Lobos won their Mountain West opener, taking game one at San Jose State. Since, UNM has dropped all five league contests, including two weeks ago in its MW home opener against Utah State. New Mexico had its bye week last weekend and played a three-game series at BYU, dropping the weekend 1-2.

New Mexico is led by Andrea Howard on offense with a .418 batting average and slugging .891. Her batting average is No. 4 overall in the Mountain West and her slugging is tied at No. 1. She is currently on an eight-game hitting streak and has seven RBI during that time with three homers. Her 13 homers leads the team and is tied for the conference lead. In the circle, the Lobos are led by both Emma Guindon and Amber Linton, both have tossed around 100 frames. Guindon carries a 2.49 ERA and a 9-5 mark, while Linton holds a 3.43 ERA and a 10-7 record.
