A chance to avenge 2021 woes
FORT COLLINS, Colo.- Colorado State (4-3-3) returns home this week to defend its home turf. After a win and a draw in the opening week of conference play the Rams will take on Boise State (4-2-5) on Thursday and Utah State (5-2-4) on Sunday.Â
ÂThe Rams started their 2022 conference schedule with a shutout victory last Thursday in San Diego before wrapping up their week with a draw on Sunday at New Mexico. Senior Midfielder Liv Layton notched three points with a goal and an assist in the two matches.Â
ÂColorado State has played games of its own in net. The Rams' starting netminder for the majority of non-conference play, Emilie Gavillet, was one of only two players who had played every minute of the first seven matches before relinquishing the goal to redshirt junior Maddie Ogden in the match with UMKC. Gavillet has played in every match this season but has come in relief of Ogden in three straight.Â
Â"Both goal keepers have been training great. Each one has different skill sets and we decided to try them both out before our conference began in terms of splitting halves.  We are happy with how it's working out!"
ÂSince their inception in 2013, the Rams have failed to beat Boise State in eight attempts and hold a 0-6-2 record against the Broncos. No current player on the Colorado State roster has recorded a point against Boise State.
ÂColorado State has had a bit more success against the Aggies holding a 4-6-0 record against Utah State. The Rams held a four match winning streak in the series between 2017 and 2020, but have since lost three straight including the 1-0 loss in the Mountain West Tournament last season.Â
ÂThe Rams will take on Boise State at 3 p.m, on Thursday and will host Utah State at 1p.m, on Sunday. Both matches will be available to stream on Evoca and the Mountain West Network.
