GAME NOTES
- Colorado State travels to Hawaii to close out the regular season. The Rams are one win shy of bowl eligibility but have not won on the islands since 2017.
- The staff connections are significant as Hawaii head coach Timmy Chang was an assistant coach on Norvell's Nevada staffs from 2017-21 before briefly joining Norvell at Colorado State prior to taking the Hawaii job.
- Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Thomas Sheffield, Director of Player Personnel Silas Clapham, and Offensive Analyst Cade Socha were also briefly on the Colorado State staff from Nevada before joining Chang in Hawaii. Chief of Staff Matt Chon was a Nevada staffer with Norvell as well.
- Travel is always a question for teams headed to Hawaii, and the Rams will travel out Thursday morning to adjust to the three-hour time difference.
- The Rams concluded the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 2-2 mark for the first time since 2017, the last season the program was bowl eligible.
- The Rams concluded the home portion of the 2023 schedule with a 4-2 record, the best mark at home since 2017.
- The 2023 Rams have been dramatically improved on offense in nearly every major category including Total Offense, Passing Offense, Scoring Offense, and Sacks Allowed, ranking in the Top 10 in terms of improvement year-over-year.
- Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi: No. 13 nationally in Passing Yards per Game (285.7) … Has tallied the most 300-yard passing games by a CSU freshman … Broke the freshman passing yardage record at Wyoming, surpassing Pete Thomas' 2010 mark of 2,662 yards … Climbing the charts of Colorado State's single-season records (see game notes)
- Tory Horton: Ranks No. 21 nationally in Receiving Yards per Game (86.4) and No. 3 in Receptions per game (7.9) … Needs 50 yards to reach 1,000 in consecutive seasons
- Mohamed Kamara: No. 5 nationally in total sacks (12.5) and No. 6 in sacks per game (1.14) … Became just the second player in school history to record 30.0 career sacks … The career record stands at 33.0 … 12.5 sacks is the most by a player in a season since defensive stats became official in 2000 … Currently sits at 3rd for a season
- Dallin Holker: Leads all tight ends nationally in Receiving yards (739), receptions (59), first downs (36) and targets (98) … No. 2 in yards after catch (369), and receiving yards per game (67.2) … A Mackey Award Semifinalist
- Jack Howell: Ranks No. 2 nationally in total tackles (106) among defensive backs and leads the Mountain West's defensive backs … No. 2 in total tackles in the MW overall … No. 17 nationally in tackles per game (9.64) … Became the first CSU DB since defensive stats became official in 2000 to post consecutive – and multiple – 100-tackle seasons
- Jordan Noyes: Named the MW Special Teams Player of the Week today … His 28 PATS are the 10th-most in a single season … 14 made field goals are one shy of cracking the Top 10 charts … 82.4 conversion percentage (14 of 17) currently tied for 6th-best in a season
