THE BOOT RUN
One of the greatest tradition's in college football, the Boot Run began in 1991 and continues to this day. Cadets from Colorado State and Wyoming's ROTC units run the game ball between the stadiums - with a ceremony at the border with both head coaches - the day before the game. Colorado State's cadets run 40 miles to Wyoming's 27, and they'll also run entirely uphill as they make their way to the state line north of 7,000 feet.

GAME NOTES
  • Saturday's game marks the 115th playing of the Border War between Colorado State and Wyoming where the teams battle annually for the Bronze Boot. There is a one-win discrepancy in the series. Colorado State does not count the first meeting in 1899, a 12-0 victory for Colorado Agricultural College, due to the game's eventual forfeit.
  • Every year since 1968, the victor of the Border War has taken home the Bronze Boot, a boot worn in the Vietnam War by Captain Dan J. Romero who was part of the Colorado State ROTC from 1967-1969. The Boot was restored for the first time in its history prior to the 2021 season.
  • The Border War is one of the longest continuous rivalries west of the Mississippi River, having been played 77 consecutive years dating back to Oct. 5, 1946 following World War II. Since the induction of the Bronze Boot into the rivalry game, the Cowboys own a 30-25 advantage in the series. However, the Rams are 16-14 since the start of the Sonny Lubick era in 1993.
  • The Wyoming series is the most played game for Colorado State (114), and the third game this season with a series of 80 or more games between the two schools (Colorado - 92; Utah State - 80).
  • The Rams concluded the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 2-2 mark for the first time since 2017, the last season the program was bowl eligible.
  • Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi: No. 6 nationally in Passing Yards per Game (309.5) … Has tallied the most 300-yard passing games by a CSU freshman … The freshman passing record stands at 2,662 yards by Pete Thomas in 2010 (Fowler-Nicolosi currently has 2,476)
  • Tory Horton: Ranks No. 9 nationally in Receiving Yards per Game (98.8) and No. 2 in Receptions per game (8.8) – both lead the MW.
  • Mohamed Kamara: No. 3 nationally in total sacks (10.5) and sacks per game (1.31) … Will move into a tie for 2nd in program history for a career with 0.5 more sacks … The career record stands at 33.0
  • Dallin Holker: Leads all tight ends nationally in Receptions per Game (6.0), receiving yards (620) and receptions (48) … No. 2 in yards after catch, receiving touchdowns (6), and Receiving Yards per Game (77.5).
  • Jack Howell: Ranks No. 4 nationally in total tackles (78) among defensive backs and leads the Mountain West's defensive backs … No. 2 in total tackles in the MW overall
  • Team Offense: Currently the nation's fifth-most improved offense compared to 2022 … The passing offense is the second-most improved and scoring offense is No. 3 most-improved overall … They are also the most improved in sacks allowed … Defensively, the Rams are No. 26 nationally in sacks per game and No. 14 in turnovers gained
