First meeting ever between the two teams
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – This is first home match of the season, and the Rams can't wait.
Â
Colorado State women's tennis is hosting the San Francisco Dons Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Fort Collins Country Club. There will be live stats and live coverage available for this event.
"We are really excited to kick off the season at home, we love playing in front of our home crowd," head coach Mai-Ly Tran said. "It gives us a chance to showcase some of the hard work the girls have been putting in over the last six months and bring the community together, we are very lucky to have such an amazing support group and fan base in Fort Collins."
Â
Last spring season the Rams were very successful at the Fort Collins Country Club as they were 4-0 at home. They faced MSU Denver and Gonzaga at the country club with the matches resulting in a 7-0 and 4-2 win.
Â
"It's always great to get some new teams out, USF is a competitive team, and it will be a true test to see where we are," Tran said.
Â
The Dons are 1-0 so far this season and last year they had an overall record of 11-10 and a conference record of 4-5. This is the first time the Rams will face USF as they are in the West Coast Conference.
Â
The Rams split matches to open the season, beating MSU Denver and losing to DU, both by 4-0 scores. The team is looking to build on each match they play, and they are always striving to get that 1 percent better each day.
Â
"The home opener is always exciting, and I have no doubt the girls will bring the energy this weekend," Tran said.
