Colorado State set to celebrate three seniors Sunday afternoon

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team will host the Fresno State Bulldogs in their final home series of the season April 28-30 as the Rams continue to stay in contention of a Mountain West Tournament bid with two more weekend left in the regular season.
 
What you need to know:
  • The Rams boast five players originally from the state of Colorado as Friday's series opening game is set to be the team's annual State Pride game featuring special blue, red and yellow uniforms honoring the state flag of Colorado. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
  • Saturday's game will feature man's best friend as the Rams host Bark in the Park, encouraging fans to bring their dog out to the ballpark for Saturday's 1 p.m. afternoon game.
  • Sunday, the final home game of the season for the Rams, will act as the team's annual Green Out to celebrate three seniors within the Colorado State Softball program. Fans are encouraged to wear green and arrive early for a pre-game ceremony celebrating Kaitlyn Cook, Makenna McVay and Jetta Nannen. The game will begin afterwards at noon.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs:
  • Traveling to Fort Collins with a conference record of 9-7, the Bulldogs currently sit as the No. 3 team in the Mountain West after they swept Nevada last weekend.
  • The Bulldogs will enter the weekend 20-24, not including the results of a mid-week game with No. 8 Stanford which will take place Wednesday night.
  • As a team, they rank seventh in the conference in batting efficiency and third in pitching efficiency.
  • Colorado State is 13-45 overall against Fresno State with an 8-14 home record, all-time.
 
Game Notes:
  • Last weekend, the Rams went 2-2 after two doubleheaders against non-conference opponent Iowa State.
  • Kaitlyn Cook led the way offensively for the Rams going 6-13 (.462) scoring a run and earning an RBI.
  • Maya Matsubara hit 6-14 (.429) against the Cyclones scoring three runs after hitting two doubles and notching four RBI.
  • Ashley York, who is ranked fourth in the Mountain West in season batting average at .386, tallied two home runs in Ames, with one coming in each of Friday's games.
  • Peyton Allen tallied six RBI as the infielder had four hits on the weekend including a home run and two doubles.
