No. 61 CSU heads north for two neutral-site matches
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – In the middle of conference play the Rams are heading to Wyoming for back-to-back "home" games. Colorado State women's tennis will be traveling up to Laramie, Wyo. to play San Diego State University on Friday and UNLV on Saturday. Both matches will be held at 3 p.m. and played at the UW Tennis Complex.
Â
A live stream is expected to be available for both matches.
Â
"SDSU and UNLV will both be great matches, they have both had a great start to conference play so I'm excited to see how the girls match up," head coach Mai-Ly Tran said. "We played four matches in Laramie last year and played well, so we do feel like it can be a slight home advantage and our fans are able to travel up which is always nice."
Â
The Aztecs are 10-5 overall, 3-1 in conference and ranked 53rd nationally. The No. 61 Rams last saw SDSU in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament in 2022, falling 4-1. San Diego State leads the overall series 23-1, with the Rams' beating the Aztecs for the first time in 2021.
Â
"Both these teams have been in great form especially within conference so we will need to be disciplined and willing to compete for every point as we did last weekend," Tran said.
Â
UNLV is also 3-1 in conference, 11-2 overall this year and lead the head-to-head historical record is 25-3. Last season, the Rams beat the Rebels 4-2 at UNLV.
Â
"I think our close matches last weekend proved that we are a team that are willing to push through whatever challenges we are facing," Tran said. "Our focus is always on the upcoming match and getting another chance to compete."
