What you need to know:
- The Rams currently sit third in the Mountain West with a 10-8 conference record. As the race continues to be one of the top six teams in the conference and qualify for the first Mountain West Tournament in 17 years, the final weekend of the regular season could change a lot in terms of who gets a bid and where final rankings fall.
- Colorado State will face off against the Wolf Pack in a Thursday through Saturday series, different from a normal Friday through Sunday series, in order to give student-athletes an extra day of rest before the conference tournament begins in San Diego Thursday, May 11.
- Game times for this weekend's series include the Rams playing at 4 p.m. mountain time both Thursday and Friday with Saturday's game set for 11:30 a.m.
Scouting the Wolf Pack:
- Nevada currently sits tied for the No. 6 spot in the Mountain West with an 8-11 conference record, leaving the Wolf Pack in need of a successful weekend against the Rams in order to qualify for the Mountain West Tournament.
- The Wolf Pack has the second-best team ERA in the Mountain West this season giving up on average under three earned runs per game.
- Ace pitcher Carley Brown ranks fourth in the conference in both innings pitched and season ERA at 2.90.
- As a team, the Wolf Pack is hitting a combined .263 batting average during their conference season, good for eighth in the Mountain West.
- The Rams are 23-15 all-time versus Nevada with a 6-10 record in Reno.
Game Notes:
- Coming into the weekend on a three game win streak after Colorado State swept Fresno State last weekend at Ram Field, the Rams will look to keep momentum on their side through the end of the year.
- The Rams walked off the Bulldogs in all three games against the Bulldogs with Molly Gates claiming the game-winning hit Friday, Brooke Bohlender earning the go-ahead RBI Saturday and Hailey Smith hitting the walk-off double Sunday.
- Smith led the way at the plate all weekend for the Rams going 6-12 with two doubles and three RBI.
- On senior weekend, fifth-year third baseman Kaitlyn Cook went 5-11 with two doubles and three RBI to close out her career at Ram Field.
- Similarly, graduating senior Jetta Nannen had one of her best outings this season with a 6.2 inning, 101 pitch appearance in Sunday's win only allowing five hits and two runs in 28 batters faced.
- Danielle Serna reached base at a .667 clip against Fresno State as the first baseman went 4-8 with four walks on the weekend.
