Edwards makes her return to Colorado after redshirting at fellow Mountain West program
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State softball and head coach Jen Fisher announced the addition of Abby Edwards to the 2024 roster Wednesday afternoon.
Â
"Abby is a talented student-athlete who fits right into the culture of our team," Fisher said. "She is a proven champion and decorated hitter and catcher who brings the blue-collar work-ethic that so many of our athletes embody, each and every day. Our program has recently made a big push to keep local talent at home and getting Abby back to her native state is the latest win for our program."
Â
Originally from Henderson, Colorado, Edwards joins the Rams after spending one year at Boise State where she redshirted the 2023 season.
Â
"The coaching staff at CSU supports me so much that it was an easy decision to return back home to Colorado," Edwards said. "I wanted to be at a place where the girls and I have the same goal, and that is Colorado State."
Â
As a 2022 graduate of Holy Family High School, Edwards is a three-time Colorado State Softball Champion, four-time member of the Northern Colorado Athletic Conference All-Conference and Northern Colorado All-Region teams and a two-time Colorado All-State team honoree. In 2021, she was named the NCAC and 4A Player of the Year in Colorado.
Â
In her academic pursuits at Colorado State, Edwards plans to major in history with an emphasis on education with the intention of becoming a high school teacher.
Â
Edwards will join the Rams with four years of immediate eligibility remaining as the program is already looking forward to the 2024 season next spring.
