Ross Picks Up Defensive Player of the Week Honor

Goalkeeper Shayna Ross earned the Mountain West’s Defensive Player of the Week honor
COLORADO SPRINGS – Shayna Ross has been a brick wall for the Colorado State soccer team and picked up the Mountain West's Defensive Player of the Week honor announced by the conference on Monday. The junior has been a key to the Rams' 5-0-1 start to the season allowing just two goals over the six contests.

Ross helped CSU go 2-0 last week as they made a trip through Big Sky country defeating Montana and Idaho State. In the win over UM, she recorded her fourth shutout of the season as the Rams won 1-0. Ross and the Rams' shutout streak came to an end against ISU after 419 minutes, but the team still picked up the win 2-1.

She had a 0.50 GAA making seven saves for a save percentage of 87.5%.

On the year, Ross has recorded four shutouts with a 0.33 GAA allowing just two goals and saving 88.2% of the shots she has faced.

Colorado State puts its five-game win streak on the line this week when they host Utah Tech and Utah. The matches will be played on the program's brand-new practice field as the record rains caused issues to their competition field for the 2023 season. Kickoff between the Rams and Trailblazers is set for 4 pm on Thursday.
