Long-time volunteer coach joins the Rams’ coaching staff full-time
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team and coach Jen Fisher announced Friday the promotion of long-time volunteer assistant coach, Brett Bogner, to assistant coach as Bogner joins the staff full-time ahead of the 2024 season.
Â
"I am thrilled to announce that Coach Bogner will be joining our staff as a full-time assistant coach. Brett has been an integral part of our program for four years now, improving our efficiency in each area that he has touched," Fisher said. "I'm confident that he will continue to do the same, as he takes on even larger roles as recruiting coordinator and defensive player development."
Â
"I cannot thank Coach Fisher enough for the incredible opportunity. It truly is a dream come true, and I could not be more excited and motivated to work with this staff and program each and every day," Bogner said. "I'm thrilled to be able to work with this amazing group of student athletes, especially at my alma mater. CSU has been a massive part of me and my family's life for the past 10 years, and being able to be on campus every day to coach here full time is a true blessing."
Â
Bogner first joined the Colorado State softball program in the fall of 2020 as a volunteer assistant and stayed on as a data analyst and video coordinator for the spring of 2021. In the fall of 2021, his role as a volunteer assistant changed as he took on more responsibility coordinating the defense and assisting with hitting and base running strategies. This has been his role ever since and a role he will continue to step into as an assistant coach.
Â
Bogner is a 2015 CSU graduate earning a bachelor's degree in Applied Human Sciences, with a concentration in Sports Medicine. During his time as a student, Bogner was part of the Colorado State Club Baseball program where he served as president and tallied two NCBA World Series appearances. After graduation, he spent four years as an assistant coach with the club team, assisting in leading them to two additional NCBA World Series.
Â
"As a proud CSU Ram himself, Coach Bogner will continue to represent this great university and our softball program with the utmost pride," Fisher said. "Coach has been a loyal, steady, calming and positive presence in our program. He is a friend and professional to all and has a deep love and appreciation for the game. These qualities made him an incredibly easy choice for the assistant position, and I believe that there was simply no doubt from the staff or student-athletes that Coach Bogner was the only choice for this team. Please join me in congratulating him on his promotion!"
Â
The Rams will begin their 2024 season on the road at the Easton Classic, a tournament hosted by Cal State Fullerton February 9-11, opening up their season against Pacific.
