Colorado State holds Titans to one run, but cannot produce offensively
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team will finish opening weekend 3-2 after falling to Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon, 1-0, on the final day of the Easton Classic.

Defensively, and from the pitching circle, Colorado State played well in their final game in Fullerton, only allowing one run to the Titans. However, offensively, the Rams were only able to produce two base runners and failed to record a hit through seven innings of play.

Senior Danielle Serna got the start in the circle again for the Rams, holding off Cal State Fullerton through four innings, including getting Colorado State out of a jam in the first inning where the Titans had two runners in scoring position with only one out and Serna was able to force a shallow fly out to center field and a strikeout to end the inning without surrendering a run.

Serna's one mistake on the day came in the fourth inning where Hannah Beccera broke the even score with a solo home run, giving Cal State Fullerton the 1-0 lead. Making her third start this weekend, the home run marked the first run Serna had allowed from the circle so far this season.

In the fifth inning, Colorado State entered freshman Reagan Wick who closed out the game for the Rams. Serna would finish the day pitching four innings with four strikeouts and only three hits allowed. In just her second career appearance, Wick surrendered only one hit in two innings while recording a strikeout as well.

Offensively, the Rams had no answer for Cal State Fullerton pitcher Staci Chambers who completed the no-hitter with eight strikeouts, one walk and one hit-by-pitch.

Colorado State will travel back to Fort Collins for a week of practice before returning to California next weekend for the Toreno Classic hosted by San Diego. The Rams will face Southern Utah, Eastern Illinois, San Diego and Long Island.
