Colorado State men’s basketball falls just short at New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Colorado State men's basketball battled all night in The Pit, but a Donovan Dent drive, layup and foul was the difference in a 68-66 game.
The Rams had a look at the end, but it fell short.
Colorado State never gave in starting the game down thanks to a 13-0 run by UNM.
Hot and cold shooting was a key factor to the game all night as CSU started it 1-of-8, but then making their next seven straight. The game was tied at 30 at the half as the Lobos were also hot and cold from the field going 2-for-13 during the middle portion of the half.
The Rams started the second half cold again, going 2-for-13 allowing UNM to build a 10 point lead.
Isaiah Stevens and Joel Scott chipped away at the UNM lead despite the deficit. The duo combined for the next 16 points for the Rams making it a two-point game with just under two minutes remaining.
A Patrick Cartier layup tied the game and 3-pointer inside the final minute game the Rams the lead.
The lead was exchanged six times in the final 43 seconds of the game.
Game Notes
- Isaiah Stevens led CSU with 20 points and added in nine assists and five rebounds.
- Joel Scott recorded his first double-double in the Green & Gold with 18 points and 13 rebounds. He was 8-for-9 from the free throw line.
- Nique Clifford again surpassed the double-figure rebound mark with 11.
- Rashaan Mbemba had big minutes off the bench for CSU scoring five points and grabbing a pair of rebounds while being +9 while on the court

The Rams stay on the road for the weekend heading to Las Vegas to face UNLV at 6 pm on Saturday.
