Rams Welcome Ranked Grand Canyon

Team coming off split weekend at home
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State's record may be even, but the schedule hasn't exactly been balanced, and the scales will dip more into the competitive direction this weekend.
Â
The Rams, at 4-4 on the season, are set to host No. 62 Grand Canyon on Saturday at the CSU Tennis Complex. All four of Colorado State's losses are to teams currently sitting in the top 54 of the ITA rankings. The latest, to Colorado at home on Sunday, snapped the program record 16-match home win streak.
Â
"I like to remind our team that growth comes when we are challenged," CSU coach Mai-Ly Tran said. "We've been lucky to play good teams who have done that. We expect things to be difficult but also know we are a solid team."
Â
Grand Canyon is currently 9-2 on the season, a 4-3 loss to Baylor on Feb. 25 snapping a six-match win streak for the Lopes. They will face Air Force the day before in Colorado Springs. The Lopes have a pair of notable sweeps on their resume against Fresno State and Arkansas, both at home.
Â
As Colorado State enters the match, Radka Buzkova has moved up to No. 8 on the all-time list for career singles wins with 56, and coming in at No. 6 for career doubles victories with 56. Zara Lennon leads the team with singles wins on the year with 11, while Logan Voeks has notched 10.
Â
In doubles, Buzkova has 13 on the season with four different partners, going 3-2 with Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya this spring. Lennon and Sarah Weekley both have 13 doubles wins during the campaign, having gone 10-4 as a tandem, 3-2 together this spring. In both matches this past weekend, the Rams earned the doubles point.
Â
"We are happy with our improvements in doubles play. That has made a big difference in the last couple matches to head into singles play," Tran said. "We can continue to improve on being committed to our game plans and work on keeping attention on the right things and not get distracted when it doesn't go exactly how we want.  Our goal is to focus on us and how we can continue to play our tennis."
Â
There will be a live stream and live scoring available for the match.
