Team Gears Up for a Two Road-Dual Weekend

3/27/2024 2:55:00 PM | Women's Tennis

Rams to face Nevada, Pacific

FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State women's tennis team heads toward the West Coast for the weekend after a successful set of matches in Fort Collins.

The Rams won a pair of Mountain West home matches last weekend, pushing their record to 7-6 on the season, 3-1 in conference after beating both Utah State and Boise State.

The first stop on the western road trip is Nevada. The two teams are scheduled to play in Reno on Friday at the McArthur Tennis Center (12 p.m.) The Rams lead the overall series 4-2 having won the past four matchups. Nevada sits ninth in the Mountain West standings at 6-7 overall, 1-3 in conference.

The second stop on the Rams' western road trip is a late add to the CSU schedule, facing Pacific on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

The Tigers are currently in the West Coast Conference with a season record of 7-5. This last-minute addition of this non-conference dual came about due to the cancellation of a set of non-conference matches against Columbia and Charlotte earlier in the month.

Coach Mai-Ly Tran felt it was imperative her players get as much play time as possible outside of conference play.

"We had open dates left on our schedule from a cancellation and scheduling a good nonconference team at sea level can keep us sharp for conference play." Tran said. "We are motivated and hungry for a road win and can't wait to play."
Last weekend, Radka Buzkova took over ownership of the second spot in career doubles wins with 61. In singles, she ranks eighth at the school with 59.

Zara Lennon leads the team with 14 wins in singles, with Luana Avelar, Logan Voeks and Sarah Weekley all at 10. In doubles, Buzkova and Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0, with Lennon and Weekley 2-1 in conference, 12-6 overall.
