Scouting the BulldogsÂ
- The Bulldogs enter the weekend with an overall record of 30-15 and a Mountain West record of 10-6. They've notched wins against current first-place San Diego State and second-place Nevada, both having already secured spots in the Mountain West Tournament. Additionally, they secured series wins against UNLV and Boise State, as well as a series sweep over both San Jose State and Utah State in conference play.Â
- The Bulldogs were voted to finish fourth in the Mountain West preseason poll, and currently rank third in the conference standings. Â
- Pitcher Taylor Gilmore earned Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors after recording 12 strikeouts in three appearances, allowing UNLV only one run. Â
- Both Gilmore and Serayah Neiss rank in the Mountain West, with Gilmore recording 120 strikeouts in 134 innings, placing her second, and Neiss recording 95 strikeouts in 131 innings, placing her fourth in the conference.Â
- Sophomore Natalie Elias ranks fifth in hits for the Mountain West with 58. She maintains a batting average of .381.Â
- The Bulldogs currently rank fourth in Mountain West team batting average with .309, and second with a team pitching ERA of 2.79.Â
Game Notes Â
- The Rams had a successful 2-0 weekend, extending their win streak to seven games. They dominated San Jose State, outscoring them 30-0 in two games with run-rule victories. In their last seven conference games, the Rams have outscored opponents 90-10, with six of those games ending in run-rule victories.Â
- Senior Peyton Allen delivered a standout performance in the Rams' 2-0 sweep over San Jose State. Allen went four-for-four at the plate, achieving a perfect 1.000 on-base percentage and an impressive 2.250 slugging percentage. She also hit a home run, a triple, scored seven runs, and tallied nine RBI, earning her NCAA Softball National Player of the Week, and both Mountain West and D1 Softball Player of the Week honors.Â
- Senior Sydney Hornbuckle pitched a five-inning, four-hit shutout over the weekend, while additionally contributing five RBIÂ and a home run to aid her team. Her stellar performance led the Rams to a series sweep and earned her the title of Colorado State Water-Pik Student Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
- Senior Danielle Serna and freshman Reagen Wick formed a formidable duo, guiding the Rams to their second win over San Jose State while allowing only one hit and collectively striking out six batters to keep the Spartans scoreless against the Rams.Â
- Senior, Ashley York continued her stellar performance at the plate over the weekend, scoring five runs, tallying three hits, and driving in one RBI. Currently, she ranks fourth in the Mountain West with a .412 conference batting average and is in close second for runs scored, totaling 47.Â
- Senior Maya Matsubara continued to demonstrate her dominance at the plate over the weekend, going five-for-five and scoring seven runs with three RBI. Matsubara currently ranks second in the conference with five triples, fourth in runs scored at 43, and second in the conference with an impressive individual batting average of .431.Â
- Senior Molly Gates was outstanding at the plate over the weekend, going seven-for-seven with three RBI and a double. Gates currently ranks in the Mountain West with a .390 batting average.Â
