Scouting the Rebels
  • Last season the Rebels finished the regular season ranked third in the Mountain West after going 14-8 in conference and 31-19 overall. The Rebels are currently ranked third in the Mountain West ahead of conference play with several notable wins over Southern Utah, Idaho State and back-to-back wins against Creighton. Senior Ariana Martinez has been a strong asset to the Rebels offense, leading the team with a .436 batting average. Going into conference play, Martinez has recorded 34 hits, with six doubles, 29 RBI and seven home runs for a slugging percentage of .782. The Rebels have relied on junior Amelia Weber in the circle, who currently holds a 6-4 record over 59 innings pitched. In previous years, the Rams and Rebels have perfectly split wins and losses, 33 wins and losses each, with their last matchup resulting in a 9-2 Rams win. Ahead of the 2025 season, UNLV is predicted to finish the Mountain West ranked fourth, according to preseason polls.
Game Notes
  • Last weekend the Rams competed in the Rams Invitational competing in five games against Weber State. The Rams ended the invitational with two wins and two losses, with two hard-fought wins throughout the weekend.
  • Freshman Kyra Smith was named Waterpik's Student-Athlete of the Week after recording a .545 batting average with six hits and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Smith hit her second career home run, and the first of the season at Ram Field, in game one against the Wildcats. This acted as a crucial extra two runs of insurance needed for the Rams to take the win.
  • Sophomore Kaylynn English continues to be a crucial part of the Ram's offense, hitting the walk off single to take the win over the Wildcats in game four of the invitational. This walkoff was named Smoothie King's Smooth Move of the Week and acted as English's 14th hit of the season. English currently holds the third-highest batting average for the Rams with a .341 average after 18 games she's appeared in.
  • Senior Carolina Buffaloe hit her first career home run with style, hitting a grand slam in the first inning during game one against the Wildcats, contributing to the 11-7 Ram win.
