Colorado State will play first Mountain West matches at home
FORT COLLINS – The challenging lead up was designed to prepare the team for this moment.
Â
Colorado State women's tennis team went 2-9 in non-conference play, including four matches against ranked foes. Now the Rams turn their attention to the Mountain West, opening the conference slate with a pair of home matches this weekend.
Â
The Rams host Nevada on Friday (3:30 p.m.; Fort Collins Country Club), then will face New Mexico on Sunday (11 a.m., CSU Tennis Complex).
Â
The team is coming off a split of California road matches as it begins league play. The top doubles team of Victoria Erechtchenko and Sarah Weekley enter conference play on a roll, having won three consecutive matches. They are 9-7 on the season, 6-3 since the start of spring. Freshman Diana Lizarazo continues to impress, having won four of her seven singles matches after joining the roster at midseason.
Â
Nevada is 8-1 in the spring season with its only loss coming on the road against Hawai'i. The Wolf Pack has three players who have won five of their dual matches and two double teams which have gone 8-0. Â
Â
In the spring season, New Mexico is 6-7. Maud Vandeputte has a 7-1 singles record which ties Sofia Tarboga for the most dual wins for the team.
Â
Both matches will feature live scoring and a live stream.
