Wick throws complete game shutout in Sunday win

SAN JOSE  – The Colorado State softball team defeated the San Jose State Spartans in game three of their second Mountain West series of the season. The Rams won 3-0 thanks to a highlight pitching performance from sophomore Reagan Wick.

  • In a rematch of Friday's series opening pitching duel, the Mountain West matchup between Reagan Wick and Mia Reynolds was another close one Sunday afternoon in San Jose, this time with the Rams finishing victorious.
  • Wick threw her 12th complete game of the season Sunday, notching her third complete game shutout. The sophomore only allowed four hits and zero walks in 26 batters faced, recording five strikeouts on her way to the win with 94 pitches thrown.
  • Offensively, the game remained scoreless until the Rams were able to rally together a three-run frame in the fourth inning. Hits from Jailey Wilson and Carolina Buffaloe as well as Kyra Smith and Morgan Coleman reaching via the walk set up and RBI fielder's choice for Lauren Stucky to take the lead and not look back.
  • Wilson led the Rams with two hits on the day, scoring off the Buffaloe single to centerfield to start the fourth inning.
  • Defensively, the Rams got three assists from Jordan West at shortstop and nine putouts from Wilson at first thanks to Wick's total seven forced ground outs.
  • The Rams now move to .500 in the Mountain West at 3-3 heading into the third weekend.

Up Next: Colorado State will continue its Mountain West season with a home series against Utah State March 27-29 while hosting a one game Sunday matchup with Montana on March 30.
