Rams Set to Host Utah State for Week Three

Colorado State returns to Ram Field to face the Aggies and Host Montana
FORT COLLINS - The Colorado State softball team returns home for the third week of Mountain West play March 27-29, with a non-conference game on March 30. The Rams will compete in four games over the course of four days, opening with their first game on Thursday against Utah State.

- Last season the Aggies finished the regular season ranked ninth in the Mountain West after going 5-17 in conference and 22-28 overall. The Spartans are currently ranked eighth in the Mountain West after two weeks of conference play, in which they went 1-2 against San Diego State. Senior Ariel Fifita has been a strong asset to the Aggies offense, leading the team with a .417 batting average. Fifita has currently recorded 40 hits, with ten doubles, 22 RBI and six home runs for a slugging percentage of .750. The Aggies have relied on junior Rylie Pindel in the circle, who currently holds an 8-1 record over 62 innings pitched. In previous years the Rams and Aggies have split wins and losses with a current record of 19-19, their last match-up ending in a 14-3 Rams victory. According to preseason polls, Utah State is predicted to finish seventh in the Mountain West.
- Last season the Grizzlies finished the regular season ranked sixth in the Big Sky after going 7-14 in conference and 18-27 overall. The Spartans are currently ranked fifth in the Big Sky due to non-conference play. Senior Presley Jantzi has been a strong asset to the Grizz offense, leading the team with a .333 batting average. Jantzi has currently recorded 28 hits, with six doubles, 16 RBI and two home runs for a slugging percentage of .524. The Grizz have relied on sophomore Brianna Lachermeier in the circle, who currently holds a 2-5 record over 54 innings pitched. This will be the Colorado State's softball team's first time facing Montana in program history. According to preseason polls, Montana is predicted to finish sixth in the Big Sky.
- Last weekend the Rams traveled to California to compete against San Jose State and ended the series 1-2. This puts the Rams ranked fifth in the Mountain West with an overall record of 3-3 going into week three.
- Sophomore Raegan Wick was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week. This is her first time receiving Pitcher of the Week and her second Mountain West Weekly Award after she was named Freshman of the Week once last season. Wick earned this award after leading the Rams to a road win over San Jose State, registering a 0.00 ERA and allowing one unearned run on eight hits during the weekend. Wick currently leads the Rams in the circle, with a record of 7-7 and an overall ERA of 3.06.
- Senior Brooke Bohkender currently leads the Rams offense with a .379 batting average after recording 33 hits, 12 RBI and a slugging percentage of .494. Bohlender had a strong offensive weekend with three hits at the plate and a .300 average.
- Redshirt freshman Lauren Stucky got the Rams started in Sunday's game against the Spartans with a two-run RBI at the top of the fourth to get Colorado State on the board. Stucky currently holds the third-highest batting average for the Rams with a .309 average, 21 hits and seven RBI.Â
