Colorado State set to host Weber State in the Rams Invitational this weekend
FORT COLLINS - The Colorado State softball team will host its second home tournament of the season at Ram Field for the Rams Invitational on March 8-9. The Rams will compete in four games over the course of two days, opening with their first game on Saturday against Weber State.

What You Need to Know
- Colorado State announced Tuesday that all games originally scheduled for Friday, March 7 have been moved to Saturday, March 8, with Saturday's games being moved to Sunday.
- This is the last weekend of non-conference tournament games for the Rams, as they are set to host UNLV next weekend to kick off conference play.Â
- Admission to Ram Field is free to fans with merchandise and concessions available for purchase at each game.
Scouting the InvitationalÂ
- The Rams have faced Weber State five times in previous years, with their most recent matchup back in 2021. Last season the Wildcats finished the season ranked third in the Big Sky after going 8-7 in conference and 22-28 overall. The Wildcats are currently ranked fourth in the Big Sky, with several notable wins over UC San Diego, San Diego State and a 6-4 win against Utah this past weekend. Senior Eva Richardson hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, eventually leading to a Wildcat win over the Utes. This was Richardson's fourth home run of the season, bringing her slugging percentage to .605. The Wildcats have also turned to junior Riley Whalen, who currently leads the team with a .407 batting average. Whalen has 24 hits, two home runs, and 12 RBI so far this season, with an overall slugging percentage of .576. With this being the last weekend before conference play, it is important to note that Weber State is predicted to finish fifth in the Big Sky according to preseason polls.Â
- Last weekend the Rams competed in the Colorado Classic alongside Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Northern Colorado and went 2-2.
- The Rams closed out the Colorado Classic with a six-inning win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi, with a final score of 12-4.Â
- Sophomore Kaylynn English currently holds the highest batting average on the Rams lineup, with a .464 average after 28 at-bats. English finished the weekend with seven hits, two RBI, and three stolen bases.Â
- This week's Smoothie King Smooth Move of the Week was awarded to redshirt freshman Lauren Stucky, who hit the run rule walk-off to take the win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the Rams final game of the Colorado Classic. Stucky currently holds the third highest batting average for the Rams, at .316.Â
- Senior Brooke Bohlender ranks second for the Rams with a .345 batting average after recording 19 hits, eight RBI, and two triples. This past weekend, Brooke added five hits, three of which she recorded in the Rams most recent matchup against Corpus Christi.Â
