Colorado State travels to New Mexico to face Lobos in a crucial series

FORT COLLINS - The Colorado State softball team faces New Mexico in an away series on April 11-13. The Rams will compete in three games over three days, opening with their first game on Friday against the Lobos.

What You Need to Know
  • After the fourth week of conference play, Colorado State is ranked seventh in the Mountain West with a 4-9 record.
  • All three games will be streamed and can be accessed by fans on the Mountain West Network. 
  • Next week the Rams will be back on the road as they travel the Arkansas to face the Razorbacks in a non-conference series. 
Scouting the Lobos
  • Last season, the Lobos finished the regular season ranked fifth in the Mountain West after going 13-9 in conference and 36-23 overall. The Lobos are currently ranked eighth in the Mountain West after four weeks of conference play, in which they are 3-7 after facing San Jose State, San Diego State, Utah State and Boise State. Freshman Jessica DeLeon was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week this past week after she led the Lobos with a .692 batting average, .846 slugging percentage and seven RBI, finishing with three multiple-hit games and two multiple-RBI games. Senior Ashley Archuleta currently leads the Mountain West offensively with a .406 batting average after recording 43 hits, 11 doubles, 12 RBI and a slugging percentage of .594. The Lobos have relied on sophomore McKenna Guest in the circle, who currently holds a 13-5 record over 108 innings pitched. In previous years, the Rams have held a 43-20 record over the Lobos, with their last matchup ending in a 16-0 win for the Rams. According to preseason polls, New Mexico is predicted to finish eighth in the Mountain West.
Game Notes 
  • Last weekend, the Rams faced both Boise State and San Diego State for two two-game series. After going 1-3 on the week, the Rams are ranked seventh in the Mountain West with an overall record of 14-23.
  • The Rams defeated the Aztecs on Saturday in a big upset, pulling away with a 2-1 win thanks to a home run from freshman Autumn Rutherford. This was Rutherford's third home run of the season, which was named Smoothie King's Smooth Move of the Week.
  • During Saturday's game against the Aztecs, Jailey Wilson and Brooke Bohlender turned a double play to get out of a crucial jam at the top of the fifth inning, largely solidifying the Ram's win. 
  • Sophomore Reagan Wick continues to lead the Mountain West in strikeouts during conference play with 41 after 51.1 innings pitched. Wick currently holds an 8-10 record throughout the season and has been the Rams go to in the circle. 
  • Senior Brooke Bohlender continues to lead the team with a .364 batting average after recording 40 hits, 15 runs and 15 RBI. Bohlender has also been a strong asset defensively, with a 1.000 fielding percentage after contributing 108 putouts, six assists and two runners caught stealing.
