SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Colorado State falls to Utah Tech and San Diego in day one of San Diego and UC San Diego Invite, after two hard fought battles. The Rams will continue their time on the road as they kick off day two against Fairleigh Dickenson Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Game 1: Colorado State, 4 | Utah Tech, 6

Colorado State opened the game strong against Utah Tech, scoring two runs in the first inning. Jailey Wilson drove Lauren Stucky home with a double to left center, getting the Rams on the board early.

In the second inning, the Rams extended their lead. Jac Smith singled and advanced to third on a fielder's choice. Kyra Smith then delivered a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Smith and making it 3-2 in favor of CSU after the second inning.

Colorado State added another run in the fourth inning, however, Utah Tech maintained its lead at 5-4.

Andrea Jaskowiak started on the mound for the Rams, pitching two innings and allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out three batters and issuing two walks. Giselle Bentley provided the longest relief appearance, pitching four full innings and surrendering just one unearned run on five hits, while striking out one and not allowing any walks. Bentley's performance was highlighted by her ability to induce ground balls, recording 10 groundouts, and effectively limiting Utah Tech's scoring opportunities.

Game 2: Colorado State, 3 | San Diego, 4

Colorado State faced San Diego in a tightly contested matchup. San Diego took an early lead in the first inning, but the Rams responded in the third inning when Kaylynn English walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Stucky's RBI single to center field. This narrowed the gap to 2-1, San Diego leading after the third.

In the fourth inning, the Rams continued its momentum. Allyson Moody led off with a single, followed by a walk to Clarissa Castillo. After advancing on a wild pitch, Castillo scored on an Abby Edwards sacrifice fly, tying the game at 2-2.

Autumn Rutherford had a diving catch in the bottom of the sixth inning to create momentum for the Rams.

In the final inning, trailing by two runs, Colorado State attempted a comeback. With an RBI from Stucky, there was only a one-run deficit. Despite the effort, the Rams fell short, with San Diego holding on for a 4-3 victory.

Reagan Wick pitched a complete game, going six innings while allowing seven hits and four runs, three of which were earned. Wick struck out three batters and walked two during the outing, facing a total of 28 batters. The pitcher threw 109 pitches, with 71 of them being strikes, and induced 10 groundouts and five flyouts.

Stucky recorded two hits and drove in two runs, providing key offensive contributions. English scored twice, demonstrating effective base running. Abby Edwards added an RBI with a sacrifice fly, contributing to the team's scoring efforts.
